About Us

There are many wonderful things that will never be done if you do not do them.

The Community Education Network (CEN) was established in 2001 as an independent nonprofit organization by a group of committed professionals, including representatives of for-profit management consulting firms, nonprofit service agencies, and faith-based organizations. As envisioned by the founders, CEN's core mission is to provide technical assistance and resource support for community organizations engaged in the delivery of health education and community outreach at the grassroots level.

CEN promotes community capacity-building and self-empowerment approaches for communities nationwide. In addition, we seek to direct or redirect corporate, government, institutional, and/or other external involvement in ways that are compatible with communities' self-determined interests, goals, and priorities.

Goals and Objectives

CEN's goals and objectives include:
  • Bridging gaps and building linkages to empower and improve the health and quality of life of underserved and hard to reach groups.
  • Supporting and facilitating capacity-building of community-based organizations that support and meet the needs of underserved groups.
  • Promoting spiritual, intellectual, and civic growth and development to help positively transform the lives of underserved populations and revitalize their communities.

Who We Serve

CEN strives to achieve better health and education outcomes for:
  • Racial and ethnic minorities,
  • Individuals who are socioeconomically disadvantaged,
  • Individuals with disabilities,
  • Women,
  • Youth, and
  • Other unserved and underserved populations.
